Give your books a chance to become Librarians' Choice
Every day, thousands of library staff working in 1000's of library buildings around Australia promote books, authors and reading. They recommend books in person, through their websites and marketing tools, to millions of library members.
There are 10 million library members who make 9 million visits to Australian public libraries each month. Over $128 million is spent to ensure that collections remain up to date and relevant.
Librarians' Choice harnesses the time-honoured value of “librarian’s picks” into a single nation-wide discovery tool, consisting of a monthly list of 10 must-read picks of newly-released titles. Librarians' Choice will guide consumers looking for trusted book recommendations and librarians, booksellers and media looking for books to represent, order or feature. This tool influences millions of library members, reaching beyond library walls into bookstores, media outlets, distributor recommendation engines, and online retailers.
Librarians' Choice is actively building support amongst our enthusiastic professional network and associations to recruit a diverse group of library staff from around Australia as Librarians' Choice voters and reviewers.
Librarians' Choice is a not-for-profit association. There is no fee for publishers to be involved. Rather than mailing print flyers, posters and lists, Librarians' Choice will create a suite of templates and marketing materials for libraries to print their own and to post on their websites and social channels. Some promotional items, such as Librarians' Choice book stickers will be available for libraries to purchase.
Any book published in Australia, that is of interest to an adult audience is eligible to be nominated for the Librarians' Choice Top 10 list each month.
Librarians' Choice is open to all employees of any library in Australia. Anyone working in a library who reads a book and loves it, may nominate it for Librarians' Choice. The Top 10 list each month will be made up of the books that have received the most nominations. The title by an Australian author with the most nominations will be the featured title.
How can you make sure your books are considered?
All you need to do is make review copies of eligible titles available to our readers. Because the Top 10 list each month features new release titles, voting takes place entirely pre-publication.
Librarians' Choice does not act as a distributor for review copies. Publishers can make their books available for readers to request in the following ways:
- Via NetGalley - Contact Tarah Tehoret from NetGalley for more information.
- Supply information on forthcoming titles and review copy request details to Librarians' Choice 2 months before publication for distribution to reviewers in our eNewsletter.
It is entirely up to the discretion of the publisher to choose the number of review copies they will supply and the format they will be in.
